About Us​

Who We Are

The Somali Community in Syria (SCS) was established in the early 1990s by Somali professionals, elders, and youths who shared a common vision: to provide a platform of support, dignity, and empowerment for the Somali people residing in Syria.
Our members come from different walks of life, including students, families, workers, and refugees, each with their own experiences and aspirations. Despite facing challenges such as language barriers, unemployment, cultural isolation, and difficulties navigating local systems, they found a sense of connection, empathy, and unity through the community-based organization.
We are proud to be not only a service provider but also a family. We listen, we lead, and we develop.

Services​

In the new Syria, the Somali community has urgent initiatives designed to enable community rehabilitation, attract growth, and encourage investment.

Somali Community Revival Project

The initiative will provide an opportunity for the Somali community, which once thrived in Syria with an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 individuals, to reestablish themselves in the country.

Releasing the Somalis Detained All over Syria

Since the onset of the war, numerous Somalis from the diaspora have become involved in the Syrian conflict, with many ending up detained in prisons in the northeast.

Legislation and Immigration in the New Syria

This program helps the Somali community integrate into the new Syria, solidifying their residency status.

Attracting Somali Investment and Tourism in Syria: Supporting the new Syrian government’s efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen the tourism sector by encouraging Somali investors and tourists.
